Ra-X: our data exchange, retail communications and polling solution

February 2015: Today’s global retail world requires solutions to exchange varying data formats in differing time zones, supporting stores, franchises and concession environments at home and overseas. As such we have created Ra-X, our data exchange solution.

Retail Assist’s Ra-X solution is used to ‘exchange’ data with stores on a global scale, processing data such as; sales information, stock movements, currency conversions and software rollouts across diverse locations. Product and price data can also be exchanged from retailer to concession partner. The accuracy and availability of stock has become a factor in our customers’ environments to enable support in today’s omnichannel world.

Currently, Ra-X supports 3300+ stores throughout 62 countries and trades with 66 different partners. In the UK, they include; Harrods, House of Fraser, Debenhams, John Lewis, and Selfridges. Internationally, Bloomingdales, El Cortes Ingles, Alshaya, Karstadt and Galleries Lafayette are some of the biggest partners.

Our Ra-X customers include Coast, Oasis, Warehouse, Karen Millen, White Stuff, Paperchase, Cath Kidston and Morrisons. They benefit from seamless data exchange between multiple systems, enabling retailers to link effectively with their trading partners, across company owned stores, concessions, standalone stores and franchises, globally. This allows easy data interchange with partner systems, dealing with issues relating to data formatting, territories and time zones.

Robin Coles, Head of Product Strategy at Retail Assist comments; “Ra-X is secure, scalable and easy to use. It supports ambitions for expansion with minimum risk and cost as it doesn’t require any hardware or software, or an increase in IT headcount. Retail Assist manages the service 24×7 with full back up and disaster recovery available.”

Developments in technology have also enabled Ra-X to support in-store tablet devices to allow more efficient stock management. The tablet devices are able to replace Hand Held Terminals, which are often expensive to purchase and maintain. Unlike Hand Held Terminals, tablets allow for multi-functional activities to be carried out in store.

Tablet devices provide in-store inventory functionality that enables store staff to carry out the inventory processes in front of the goods, whether that is on the shop floor, or in the stock room, and synchronises the results back to central systems when in a Wi-Fi area. This eliminates costly manual processes and enables the processing of inter branch transfers, receiving stock from, or returning stock to the warehouse, process write on/off transactions and undertake a stocktake.

Simply put, Ra-X is a scalable solution, allowing you to interchange data with your partners in a uniform manner, without significant increase in cost. Immediate access to timely and accurate sales data enables key strategic decisions, delivering profitable and successful trading relationships with existing and future global partners.

Mike Padfield has been IT Director at international retailers White Stuff and Cath Kidston. In both businesses, he deployed the Ra-X solution: “Retail Assist offer a comprehensive and scalable service, which is important for our retail expansion plans. With 24 hour cover we can also extend coverage to international stores as and when they come on board.”
