NRF – The countdown begins

Alex IevinsAs we are only a week away from attending NRF 2012 in New York, I wanted to share with you some of our preparations and plans.

This is a particularly exciting event for me, as it’s not only my first time at the NRF EXPO, but also my first time in New York so there will be a lot for me to take in. I definitely plan on coming back with my own ‘I heart New York’ t-shirt, plus of course the usual orders of sweets and treats for the office; I know Ellie already has an order in for Reese’s Peanut Butter cups! I imagine that I’ll also be taking plenty of tourist photos of myself and the team in front of various landmarks.

So after getting together the show passes (for me, Alan Morris Retail Assist’s Executive Chairman and Borys Krywyj the Head of Sales) booking flights, sorting our ESTA applications, and accommodation we are all set to go… So as long as nobody loses their passports that is!

On arrival at New York we will be attending the opening night reception at the Mariott Marquis on the Sunday evening. We will then of course be at the main event, the EXPO on the 16th and 17th January. We plan on meeting various retail contacts there, and walking the show floor to meet exhibitors, more retailers, and Bill Clinton if we’re lucky! Bill has been signed up this year as the key note speaker.

After the first day of the EXPO we will be at the McDonald Butler event on the Monday evening, where we are looking forward to networking with some familiar faces and some not so familiar ones. One of the things I particularly enjoy about retail industry events is meeting interesting new people.

I plan to blog whilst in New York, so look forward to updating you with the latest news from the EXPO. If you’re also jetting off to New York and would like to catch up with us at the show, please post a comment below or email
